Re: ATM Trying to get rid of tube currents in a Newton telescope
Just wondering if anyone has experimented with Peltier heat pumps to cool the
primary mirror to ambient? I just saw some units in a surplus catalog in two
sizes (large being 1.56" sq x .15" thick). I think heat sinks could be
applied to radiate the heat to the air and the cooling side of the Peltier
unit could be in contact with the back of the primary. Or... maybe they
could be used to cool and remove the moisture from incoming cooling air?
Anyway... these devices quickly create a 65 deg. F temperature differential.
Could also be used as a heater. Anyway... sounds promising.
Check www.sciplus.com (saw them on page 50 of their recent catalog)
