RE: ATM Diagonal Mirror (was: Silvering materials)

Hi Michael,

>Making your own diagonal is probably more trouble than it's worth,

of course you just want to do it! :)

I guess I just have to do it :-) for it will be cheaper to make it
myself, IF I can do it right of course.
Besides, I read in the ATM archives about the digonal tests by Val
Germann (was it him?) and the test result was not so good. I do not
really like the idea of buying a $30 diagonal and receive a not so good
quality diagonal. It will be too expensive.

BTW money is not an issue or a problem for me, the problem is how to
make money :-) That's the biggest problem. Aaaarrgghh

>Trouble is, these things really need to be made in blocks of at least 3
at a time.

Why do I need 3? I'm thinking about resurfacing the mirror using the
second method described by Tex, i.e. work the mirror until it is flat
then cut it to the desired shape (rectangular in my case).
If I work the glass this way will I still need to make 3 of it, at the
same time?
Well, I know that with my skill level (which is zero), I'm gonna have to
prepare more than one plate, no, more than three I'm sure :-)

Where can I get it from? Not Newport I hope. Which reminds me, I sent
them e-mail asking about abbrasives price about two months ago and still
haven't got any respond :-)

BTW, back to silvering. Tex says use rouge to polish the mirror after
it's been silvered. Now, is this "rouge" the same with CeO that I use to
polish my mirror? Can I use CeO instead of Rouge?
