If you put the rtv on a clean unpainted board with good contact on the
object glued you probally will take a chunk of wood with the object
when it is removed, people make the mistake of putting too much RTV 
between the objects that are glued, its allright for a mirror as you
want some cushioning and some slight give, but for normal fastening 
a little thin is better.
