If resolution is the only goal, I agree with you... but I was thinking 
of more
specialised work, like drift scan imaging, or ccd surveys... in that 
case the resolution
of the "plate/detector" is limited by the pixel size...

With some typical ccd sensor with 18 microns pixels, 25 microns stars 
are
really not a problem.
