That's an interesting idea....
A guy I know has his dies for forging aircraft bolt heads cryogenically
treated. They last twice as long. It costs several hundred dollars, though.
And of course, this is tool steel, not glass.
For glass, I assume we're talking about treating a mirror blank before it is
ground and figured, not after.
