I haven't made dew caps - instead I use surplus pipe heater cord and 
wrap it around the objectives.  Works great (with enough watts) 
even in humid Louisiana!  And since the binocs aren't high 
magnification you can't notice the effect from warm air.  (I use a 
450 ohm, nine foot, length of heater cord plugged into 120V AC.  That 
gives me about 32 watts of heat - plenty so far.)
