Yes, you are 'completely off your tree'. If you had shown last saturday
at ATM meeting, you could have browsed the Texereau and Berry's books,
saw the blank being ground and asked all the questions you wanted. You
would have also most probably walked off with a blank and set of grits to
start your own mirror.
The ATM list is the right place to ask the questions, of course, but
most basic stuff that CAN be found in (not so expensive) books, has to
be be gathered elsewhere. You CANNOT rely on ATM list to tell you
everything - you _will_ get the answers, but as someone (much more
smart than I am) once said :
"To ask the right question, you have to know large part of the answer
already".
