ATM 20" mirror is getting fixed
Hi folks,
Remember the little discussion we had a few months ago
about a certain 20" that had a coating problem. Well I am getting
it fixed. Many of you wanted to know about this when I got it done.
I decided to send the mirror to the original manufacturer, Galaxy, since
they
now coat their mirrors. John Hudek of Galaxy Optics, was able to
strip the mirror with no problem. He did discover that the other
coating company had ruined part of the glass surface tho. Apparently
the previous coater did some silly things. I can't comment any further, at
this time.
He definitely has an opinion on this issue. But that is up to him to share
with you.
I asked John to do what was necessary to take care of it.
He is going to regrind, polish and refigure the mirror for me. And put
a new coating on it.
I found John to be very friendly, and concerned about the situation I was
in. He
seems to be anxious to resolve the problem. Very refreshing.
I am guessing I'll have it back by the 1st of November. I'll let you know
how it
turns out.
