   Unsharp mask is an effect were a blurred copy is subtracted from the
original image, then contrast is enhanced. The visual effect is an illusion
of emphasis on the sharp parts (mainly edges) of the picture. 
   Due to the intense interest on unsharp masking, I've put the original
picture (very close to visual appearence) aside with the treated one, so
people can evaluate the effect.
   About the ripple, as a reference, in four hours of hand polishing MOT
with 1/4 w strokes, almost all ripple have visually desapeared. I think it
worth machine polishing.
