ATM Info on plate glass.... what is it actually ??

Hi all.....

Someone might remember me, I was lurking around quite a while ago and 
sent a few posts.

I am wondering what plate glass really is.  I have asked around in 
Iceland and nobody seemes to know this name.  Is it just normal glass 
used in windows or something else ???

I have now moved to Darmstadt, Germany, for my studies and want to 
grind a small 4" here (instead of bringing my polished but not 
figured 8" here to finish) and want to use plate glass and of course 
a tile tool (as I did with my 8").

Or do you atmīrs in Europe can tell me what kind of glass they have
here I should buy.

Is there any atmīrs here in Darmstadt perhabs ?????

p.s.  I am using an account of a friend of mine for a while.
        And I had a great view of the total Lunar eclipse.  The moon 
        rose about 75% eclipsed, and we had a very beutiful sunset on 
        the other site  :) :) :)
