Why would a dome be counterproductive? I thought of a dome because it
would protect me a bit more of straylight and would eliminate
dew-problems.

How are the studs fixed to the foundation? How can the would be
protected from rotting while not using health hazardous surface
treatments?
How about normal bricks (masonry?)

I thought to make an aluminum frame construction for the sliding roof.
Any comments about that?

What is the minimum recommended size for an observatory that at one
point shall house a 16-20" Newtonian?
