ATM Eyepieces
Hi,
I'm in the process of planning the mount for an 18" f/4.5 for visual use
(probably mostly within 50-100 miles of San Francisco), and am trying to
plan on my eyepieces. I'm currently thinking of:
1) 32mm x 67 deg 2" SWA Series 4000: 65x, 1.03 deg real field, $240;
2) 20mm x 82 deg 2" Nagler Type 2: 103.5x, 47.5' real field, $359,
3) 4.7mm x 84 deg 1.25" UWA Series 4000: 440x, 11.5' real field, $170;
4) 2" Tele Vue Big Barlow: $159;
5) 2" Tele Vue Paracorr coma corrector: $215.
PLEASE give me feedback on this list. (I'm interested in buying them
USED if anyone has any of these pieces). Can the 2" Barlow be used with
1.25" eyepieces? If no, AND I want higher power than my 4.7mm provides
(for exceptional seeing), it looks like I'll have to buy a 1.25" Barlow
as well. Can the 2" coma corrector be used with the 1.25" eyepiece?
Are the 2" eyepieces with the extra wide FOV worth the extra bucks? It
seems to me that with a fine mirror (mine has a 0.015 RMS wavefront, a
1/10th wavefront P-V and a 0.992 Strehl ratio), I should get all out of
it I can. Feedback will really be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Carl Woebcke
