Re: ATM Choice of Mirror Kits

Salvatore and the list,

I would go with the Willmann-Bell kit. I purchased there 8" a few years ago,
one of these days I will finish it up, but that's another story. I found the
supplies adequate. I have discovered I made a mistake this first time out, and
this is why I recommend this kit. At a local optical company it was
recommended that the tool be cross cut with there diamond saw to improve the
grinding speed. I took there advice and the tool worked as advertised. It was
however difficult to use with the pitch, especially removing the pitch for
another go.

If I had it to do over again, I would make a plaster and ceramic tile tool and
save the second Pyrex blank for a future project or as a backup if my newbie
hands slipped and created Pyrex pieces.

So for the addition of some plaster and a hand full of tiles, you can get two
mirrors.
