ATM Kydex Light and Dewshield For Truss-Tube Dobsonian
Light and Dew Shield Extension for a Truss-Tube style Dobsonian.
I am considering how to best configure a light and dew shield
extension beyond the upper cage assembly of my truss-tube style
dobsonian.
In reviewing TM and ATMJ I've noted two approaches. One approach
consists of a second upper cage assembly which is apparently affixed
to the primary upper cage assembly (mounts diagonal and focuser). A
second approach apparently consists of a curved piece of material,
possibly thin aluminum or kydex affixed in an unspecified manner,
possibly with Velcro inside the upper cage assembly.
My telescope is an 18" F5 Tectron. Total extension beyond the diagonal
assembly will be 18 inches, 4 inches of which will be beyond the
Tectron's upper cage assembly. Basic shielding material will be a
section of 4 X 8 foot, .028 inch black textured Kydex.
Any thoughts on the best way to approach this project. Ideally, any
solution should be very light weight and simple to implement.
Thanks for your comments!
