I have a Novak secondary & it too drove me nuts trying to tighten the
centeral nut without rotating the secondary mirror. I have come up with a
solution to the problem which will probably work for most secondaries.
Remove the center nut, put on a flat washer, then a split lock washer (or a
strong compression spring), then another flat washer, and last the nut.
Tighen up the nut until the lock washer (or spring) starts compressing, but
not tight enoung to "lock" everything up. You've just made a clutch system
and now you can rotate the secondary to where you want it and let go & it
will stay there.
