The 50mm pillow blocks should work fine. A steel shaft would have 1/3 the
flexure of an aluminum one. The blocks should be mounted about a foot or
more apart, and the mounting surface and legs need to be beefy. The
connection to the fork arms should be as large as possible, and preferrably
go through and clamp to both sides.
