ATM A Sag Molded 65 Inch Spherical Mirror Blank Available - Cheap!

Talk About Aperature Fever ! ....

For those of you who have seen the advertised 65" blank in Starry Messenger
all these months, you have probably wondered what the scoop was.

Well, I have too, and gave him a call yesterday....after convincing myself I
wasn't TOO nuts and then realizing what a job it would be just moving around
a 2,000 pound + piece of glass....BUT- he was only 70 miles away, what the
heck!

The blank IS indeed 65", and is sag molded to about a 0.36 curve.

It is 1" thick and made of soda lime glass and weighs 450 pounds.

It originally cost $10,000 and he would let it go for under
$3,000...negotiable...get it the hell outa here.

He mentioned that he has another, but is in two pieces due to an attempt to
polish it out.

I mentioned the cost of coating, and he suggested it be repainted every week
or so with silver nitrate? as it dulled out. HA!

(Ahem).

Imagine, somehow figuring it to 1/4 wave (yeah right, F0.36) then spending
$10,000+ for coating, then the obvious happens to this soda lime cornflake.

Hmmm...this is stuff that composes nightmares.....Sweet Dreams.
