ATM Dob drivers, etc
This may be covering old ground, but I'll proceed anyway.
With the trend to using CCD's in tracking systems on the increase, has the preceding
technology caught up to where it may be (cheaply) usable - I refer, of course, to "old"
technology such as LDR's (light dependent resistors), photosensitive transistors, etc.
Are any of these devices sensitive enough to the point where they could be reliably used
to guide a scope?
Now for my second question:
I can get a 12 inch mirror and tool at a reasonable price (reasonable by Australian
standards, anyway) that has been "rough figured to f7". That is a bit long for my tastes.
How much effort would be involved in bringing it to something approaching f4-f5? Is there
a danger in doing same? The mirror has been gathering dust for something like ten
years....
Cheers
Alan

I look forward to the future interface with Guide that will make it a great,
integrated, slew type system...once we get it all worked out.
