This gives you the widest field you can get in a 1.25 inch eyepiece for low power (50x) and a nice medium to high power eyepiece at 160x. I have a a 10" F6 so the focal lengths of our telescopes are similar. I find that my low power eyepiece and my 10mm eyepiece are the ones I use the most. If you later add a 2x barlow these two eyepieces will work well with it. As to specific recommendations, you can't go wrong with the Televue Plossls. I think the Clave have slightly better contrast, but at a significant price premium. If you are on a real budget, I think the the Adorama Pro-Optic Plossls, and the Orion Sirius Plossls are also good performers for the money although they are not quite as good as the Televues. If you wear glasses when you observe, you might want to consider a Vixen Lanthanum eyepiece in the 8-10mm range. They have very long eye relief even in very short focal lengths. The stock advice is still good advice: get to a star party and see how the different eyepieces compare. The LAAS has regular star parties in the Lockwood Valley north of LA. Good Observing, Alan
