I recently went through this and ended up with just a dark green foam
sleeping mat for the "snoot" part of the tube extention.  Paint never would
stick to it.  But it works well even though not black.  The interior of the
tube is black and this thing just keeps a lot of light from ever getting
into the tube in the first place.

I also recently used some material I found at an art supply store that looks
exactly like corrogated cardboard, but is made from plastic.  Its black
already and I taped it together with black duct tape, and then sprayed it
with flat black paint.  Wewighs nothing!!
