Re: [ATM] newbie question



I believe (and I could be wrong) that the aluminum mirrors that Tom 
Waineo made were subjected to liquid nitrogen baths and heating numerous 
times during the grinding and polishing stages to remove any stress in 
the material. Somewhere on the web I read his biography and IIRC 
correctly he was successful but the process was long and involved. The 
end target for the mirrors were a space application.
