Re: [ATM] Resilient retention between metal cell and optical glass?
For mirror cells, there is no advantage as RTV on the backside
does a better job.
For lenses however, a radial o-ring is a good idea as this keeps
the glass from moving sideways. In addition, a flat silicone,
rather than neoprene, ring will work best as the silicone is of
a lower force than the neoprene is. When you do a clamp like
this, you really need to do both sides as this will keep the
forces down as the lens will not be forced against a hard surface
at any point.
