On the other hand, isn't Acculap the stuff that's made in a -bunch-
of different grades (so that the desired characteristics can be had,
consistently, with no need to tinker with "mixing" or "thinning")?

Dave that is what I did last week I ordered the "standard" grade and the
one below that from Tom at gotgrit. I will try polishing with the standard,
and if I ever get to the figure stage, I will use the softer one.

I'm a bit bored and want to try it out, to finish working on my project, I
will be starting with a new pour of hydrostone, dry it, and then do Richard's
secret sauce variation (acculap with acetone to seal the stone good).

I ordered one tin 6 months ago, just to play with it and found the
"standard" hard at times(on a aluminum substrate), but then one day I left it
out, and the sun melted it all over a ladder it was sitting on(it was like ice
in winter 6' down to the ground).oops.
on the other hand Gugolz (73 and 64 mixture with linseed oil) has never run
that badly when left out by accident(but just a few inches). these "accidents"
happen late at night by the light of the moon when very tired ;) I may make a
indoor table and do it in a more "controlled" area and cleaner too.
