I would think the chance of the center of revolution being different
than the physical center of the mirror having a greater chance of
happening in a machine mirror than a hand made one. due to how do you
hold a mirror by hand in the EXACT same place all the time?

Well if you did you'd have one BAD case of astigmatism from not rotating it
;)
I would agree with you Machine centering has to be close or you grind more
than one curve into the mirror and all those different curves are trying to
meet. With hand work it doesn't really matter where the mirror is (you
center yourself rather than the mirror under you).
