Subject: [ATM] Acculap vs. Gugholz
Does anyone on the list have experience with Acculap? I am in need of some
pitch as I am almost out of Gugholz. I am making a lap for a 12.5 f/7
reflector (full thickness).
I am considering Acculap. I'd like to know about your experiences as well as
any recommendations as to how much to buy. The stuff comes in odd
quantities.
Thank you.

I used some type of acculap on my 6". It seemed to work good, press easy,
and keep a nice smooth surface. A few degrees make a big difference in
hardness. One pound was more than enough for a 6" so two pounds should be
enough for a 12 I would guess. Note the type of acculap I got from Newport
wasn't totally clear it was a transparent brown, but definitely not burgundy
pitch.
