On my old Edmunds 6" F/8 most of the flocking in the upper tube has worn off
or wasn't there and it is blaringly obvious that the gloss reflects more to
me than the matte. I know you may look at it from different points of view.
But as I see it we want to stop stray light coming in from the front of the
tube, and reflections to me seem obviously less with matte.
Good luck if anyone tries those experiments, share anything you find.
