I have always thought that the 3 screw type guide scope supports were a PIA
to use. Adjusting one screw affects the other adjustments as the adjustment
screws are not independent of each other. I have designed and built two
separate solutions to supporting a guide scope using two independent
adjustment screws. Adjusting one screw does not affect the adjustment of the
other axis. One design that was a precursor to my compliant focuser uses
three triangular plates pivoted on orthogonal sides using pairs of
split-cross flexures. Another design used a single ball bearing pivot with
two spring-loaded adjustment screws at right angles. Both designs are posted
in the ATM archives, perhaps ten years or more back.
