Take it to a camera store and look for a skylight filter in that size.
A skylight (pink) or UV filter is usually cheap enough to sacrifice the 
glass and insert what you want.

I did this once to make a threaded mount for the 37mm lens of a Sony 
camcorder in a 2" tube.
