Now that you've had all of the silly answers, yes, the best way
is to drill several holes and file them together into a single
slot with a file.
Professionally, they are usually stamped into the metal although
precission applications they can be milled into the part.  Drill
and file is the no tool method of doing it.
When you put the edge clamps on, you want to put a business card
between the mirror and the clamp before tightening it down for
the clearacne needed.  The side part of the clamp also wants to
be about that far from the glass for the third point when the
mirror is sitting on the other two supports.
