Another poster mentioned the objective in a microscope so you can
see that they are really for very long FL scopes due to the
narrow beam approaching the eye lens. As such, Ramsden and
Huygens designs work very well. Unfortunately, such lenses don't
work on the much faster telescopes unless you do something that
is very large for a focal ratio. On my 200" refractor with it's
F45 ratio, the design works as well as a nice expensive PanOptic
EP except that the PanOptic EP has a mich better eye relief in
the smaller FLs.
