[ATM] Formatted laps and TUE ??
Has anyone tried getting rid of TUE using a deformed lap with a special pattern pressed into the lap's edge? In my case, the mirror is a sphere but for a turned up edge that is about 30 nm high and about 10mm wide on this 8" (203mm) mirror (based on Sixtests & Foucault).
I have been using Davey Harbour's "area formatted lap" approach to get rid of some zones and have had spectacular success with it, so I was just hoping something as predictable and straightforward would work at the edge, specifically, a turned up one. To anyone battling zones I highly recommend Davey's pages at:

I am thinking that worst case I could turn the TUE into a TDE quickly and then use a formatted lap to get rid of the TDE, but that has some risk because my TUE really begins with a trench about 10nm deep which is probably another problem in itself, but not a serious one.
Thanks!
Jay
