[ATM] Dental stone for tool
Hi All,
I'm going to be making a tile tool soon, I have contacted a local dental supplier and have a couple
of questions about what they told me.
They said they have a plaster called Crystalcal which I presume is just a fairly standard plaster
of paris and would need covering with epoxy.
They also mentioned a dental stone called eliterock, this is much dearer than the crystalcal but
the guy said it's a lot harder. I don't believe hardness is really the issue here as much as waterproofing,
and he didn't seem to think that the eliterock was waterproof.
Has anyone used eliterock, or do you know what it is? Is this what I'm looking for, and will it be
waterproof so that it doesn't need covering with epoxy and I can do the method where you set the
tiles straight into the stone?
Also, if I do cast the tiles right into the stone, can I make a lap over the top of the tiles or would it be
better to go with epoxying the tiles on so I can remove them and remake the tool into a lap?
Cheers.
Paul
