Sounds like you have a couple of almost complete mirrors.
The coating can be quickly polished off on a pitch lap with no
problems  Then you just need to make a Foucault tester (see the
Stellafane site) and start testing an figuring the mirrors.
Generally a mirror isn't bad until you find that it has internal
stresses and needs to applied to a large cast iron object at some
speed or it is dropped and broken.
