Less weight, material, and easier to install the bearings, I would
guess. Bolting it to the focuser board adds some to the stiffness at
the base of the focuser, so there must be some twisting going on!
Someone could easily add a small strip of aluminum near the top to
stop the sides from spreading apart.
I think the MoonLite was overlooked in the past, but now is becoming
more popular for visual use. IMHO, they are smoother than the JMIs,
and you don't have to adjust them as much.
