I do not understand how the tool used for two mirrors can ever be "the same"
with respect to both. Tool and blank are constantly changing their shape
while grinding (or polishing). So when we start to use the tool with another
mirror
it will be different than when we started with the first mirror. Even if
only one wet
apart.
And yet as you explained it seems that you ended with identical results for
both mirrors. My reasoning obviously does not fits to facts.
Some  mysterious "averaging" must be at work.
 Is there some rational explanation?
