Actually, 6 lenses doesn't seem to be far away.  From the "upgrade" above,
I slapped a couple of N-F2 elements inside and forced cementing.  It didn't
lose too much from the air-spaced doublet setup -- Visual Strehl still just
above 0.9 at the field edge.  It reduces the number of air-glass surfaces
to 4.
