Tom, actually the best is to prettu much assume that the lens
will be decently acromatic and diffraction limited for a finite
conjuagete (not at the "normal" infinite focus but rather
something fairly close to the point where the two focal points
are about equal in distance) and test it in the scope. This
will, of course, be the cause of a bit of fussing about but the
final lens will probably want to fit in the same place as the
lens you have, ezpecially if the focal length is the same but hte
color correction is diferent. Bending a lens won't change the
focal length but will change the curvature of the field.
