Re: [ATM] All Spherical Telescopes

Answering to Delyan, I take occasion to post some links:
(I had to dig a bit in my archive...).

The TAL 200k (Kletzov 8" catadioptric by TAL) was tested by Tasselli on the
"Astro-e-magazine", a very nice free-online-astronomy magazine (no longer
available). here is the article link:
http://www.astrofili.org/astroemag/num23/test-tal/test-tal.htm

And here are the link to download the pdf file of the magazine n.23 issue
(2003) (repeat: PDF files):
http://www.tnx.it/pagine/astrofili/astroemag/pdf/astroemagazine_pdf_n23.zip
6.6Mb
http://www.tnx.it/pagine/astrofili/astroemag/pdf/astroemagazine_pdf_n23_pag1-27.zip
3.3Mb
http://www.tnx.it/pagine/astrofili/astroemag/pdf/astroemagazine_pdf_n23_pag27-52.zip
3.3Mb
here is the web page to get an overview of the magazine and to access all
other issues.
http://www.astrofili.org/astroemag/num23/

by the way, on the same on line magazine issue there is also a very nice
paper on Maurizio Forghieri building a 6" APO triplet refractor (Maurizio is
"son in law" of Rustichelli, a very skilled italian amateur optician, no
more here).
http://www.astrofili.org/astroemag/num23/tecnica/tecnica.htm
he published the article in two parts, on two issues.

Concerning the all spherical camera I was talking about in my last e-mail:
the firm that have developed it is the Quasar-Schio, an Enginnering Company
with a small by-the-side optics section (as often is: very skillful people,
offering services to the industry, but with great passion and a niche
production). They are offering 8" and 10" OTAs (serrurier, with secondary
holders departing from the primary rim and a central "tube" as a light
shield).
The optics are at now made by Romano Zen, actually the best known and most
reknowned active italian optician (at least in Italy it is so: Romano is
quite famous in Japan).
You could try to contact Ing. Sperotto Dr. at the Quasar-Schio (even if in
my opinion he will NOT give much detail on the design as this is a
commercial design).

Good: I have just visited the Quasar site, and they have added a section on
the astrograph:
here is the web site address:
http://www.quasar-schio.it/

and here the optics section:
