I've used foam core, like the stuff pictured at

It is very light, and very stiff (and pretty cheap at an art supply store). If 
you take a razor and score one side of it (IOW don't cut all the way through) 
it can be bent. Although it's paper on the ourside, I've had mine last for 
years, despite dew. You can see a picture of the baffle on my 13" at 
http://home.att.net/~mikel/coulter/setup23-med.jpg - I attach it to the poles 
with small squares of velcro.
