Try going to a fabric store.
I have found a foam product called "Foamies sheets"  in the arts and crafts 
section
they come in several thicknesses 1mm, 2mm, 4mm & 6mm
The 4 mm is probably what you need.

I wander the aisles in the fabric stores, while my wife does her shopping,
looking at things and trying to figure how I could use them,

I found black display velveteen the best for tube liner.
