One of the woodworking magazines, don't remember which, reviewed router
bits a while back and concluded Whiteside gave the longest life measured
in feet of material cut before cut quality deteriorated.  They did the
testing using controlled conditions: a CNC Router, uniform stock, etc.
in order to compare the bits fairly.

Whiteside bits list nearly double the inferior bits, but are available
from http://www.routerbits.com for prices only a little above those of
brands that ranked much worse in the tests.
