I've been working on one also using a TSL237S Light to frequency sensor
(the TSL230 wasn't sensitive enough) and a PICmicro 16F88 connected to
seven segment LEDs (they dim as the sensor detects less light). The
intent was to eliminate the human factor and add consistency to the
reading. I'm still tuning it, but it pretty much works for reasonable low
light. I'm not a hardware guy so this has been a learning experience for
me.
The PIC code is in CCS C. Email me if you have any use for it or the HEX
file or want more info about the circuit. Keep in mind that it's a work
in progress.
