That is what the image intensifier up front of the quad diode is for without
the need to cool the detectors. Only the front end is analog. ADCs after the
four current to voltage opamps would allow digital processing and
conditioning including digital LPF and HPF for use with the dual mechanical
control including high speed tilt-tip mirror. The quad detectors are small
and inexpensive enough to use two quads behind an image intensifier in order
to track two stars. The use of a high speed tilt-tip mirror allows for
slower slewing motors to be used in the main scope control. The quad diodes
are fast enough in conjunction with a tip-tilt mirror to allow for some
atmospheric correction.
