Re: [ATM] A question of diameter and thickness
1 inch thickness in 6 inches diameter is the classic. That glass will not
flex, (OK it will but lets not go there), and the support can be simple.
I have personally done a 12 inch in 3/4 inch thickness and figured an 18
inch in 3/4 inch thickness. Really, they are not that bad to do. A more
important consideration is the surface. The 18 inch had a broad hump on
the back which caused flex and frustrated the first owner. Also, sticky
mounts play havoc with thin edgy mirrors.
I think 12 inch or 14 inch would be fine in the 7/8 inch stuff. And 12
inch would be fine in the 3/4 inch stuff.
My two cents worth.
