Actually, as it turns out, if you have a fairly monochromatic source,
the doublets may be singlets; the favored form is plano-convex, with
the curved sides facing each other.

Also, as it turns out, the calibration setup pretty much subtracts the
lens set out of it.  I was actually quite pleasantly surprised with
the outcome.
