[ATM] re Slide rule
My slide rule will give me the same answer as someone else's, I can't say
the same for software, recently Richard Snashall and I were exchanging
programs to see if my software OSLO, OPTALIX, gave the same results as his
ZEMAX. OPTALIX gave a reasonably similar result as ZEMAX, But OSLO was out-
- - or was it the other way around? Who knows - - - only my log tables and
20 inch slide rule with AutoCAD will say.
Having worked with false colour and IR films I would have to say
that CCD would give more consistent and probably accurate results. Film is
still best for X-rays as far as I know and my Germanium detector with
photomultiplier tube and scintillometer are all I have for Gamma - - - of
course you can always just look and see things with marvel ?
