For a Ronchi grating image will show hooks in the image if there is a turned
edge.  Beware that it is also possible to see a widening of the black line
at the edge which really hasn't been explained yet but can't be a turned
edge as it is simutaneously showing both a up and down at the same time.
This effect is normallly reported on mirrors that otherwise don't seem to
have a turned edge and the widening is very close to the edge and of a minor
amount.  A true hook will have both edges of the dark line shifting in the
same direction.
