The pics don't work for me, you could put them on the
ATM server.
Re your edge, you could try masking the existing edge
(even with just a Sharpie marker) to see if the same
effect occurs further in. A black Sharpie drawn as a
wedge along the edge allows you to detect where a bad
edge (by diffraction effect) without taking glass off.
When the edge is good you should see a narrow bright
ring that is (important part) the same on both sides
of the mirror. This is what you're looking for.
If the edge has problems and is narrow you could just
bevel it off. It won't be doing anything other than
lowering contrast on the mirror.
A thought (I know you said Acculap, and you can't
temper that) but if you're getting sleeks your lap is
possibly too hard for what you're doing.
