[ATM] re: Heating unit
It strikes me that your 40 volt - 150 ohm unit working at 11 watts (approx)
is pretty high. Daisy chaining (series) a handful of 1/4 watt resistors
inside a 1/8 inch "Tygon" tube would be more than enough and could be run
off two "D" cells in series (3 volts ). You don't want so much wattage that
all you see is heat waves. To put things in perspective a large christmas
tree lamp is 7 watts and you can't touch it comfortably. I have never used a
dew cap heater perhaps someone on the list has a good working system? At one
time you could by chromalloy wire rated at so many ohms per foot, I would
think that a loop of 24 ga chromalloy wire in a small plastic tube would be
the answer.
