Re: [ATM] Berry's 10-inch telescope plans
Hello Thomas,
When first I made my 10" thats the plan i used(If
memory is correct)is it the one with the mirror cell
mounted to the end of the tube?
I thought of using 1/2" ply at the time also but
decided in the long run to use 3/4".
As far as weight goes the mount by itself weights in
at 26 pounds which is not to bad i dont think and if
you wanted to lighten it up more you could cut a
design out on the sides and front (something I plan
to
do),there are always ways to make it lighter.
I suppose the 1/2" would work, but remember the
steadier the mount the more enjoyment you will have
in
the long run, I decided on the 3/4" because I
figured
the 1/2" would induce vibration or even warp over
time.
Black forest telescopes use to have a site up with
some beautiful mount designs with the inner parts of
the mount basically hollow, really nice but I can no
longer find thier site... anyone have a link to it?
Good luck with the telescope, btw what is the F
ratio?
